Not bad

MechWarrior: Tactical Command is an action adventure game that takes place in the Mechwarrior/Battletech universe.

The game is mission-based tactical, where you are given missions and have to complete them with specific conditions.

Graphics in MechWarrior: Tactical Command are decent, but lack detailed textures. The mechs are recognizable by their design, but zooming in shows the paltry amount of detail applied to them.

MechWarrior: Tactical Command's main problem is that it does not explain much of the Mechwarrior universe. If you are someone who knows nothing, you will have no idea what is going on. The references are so specific that they might just sound like obscure words.

Gameplay in MechWarrior: Tactical Command is another one of the problems with the game. The core design is solid: complete missions with various battlemechs. In reality you spend most of the time slowly walking your battlemech from area to area. Battles are mainly controlled by the game, so you tell your team what to attack and then sit back and hopefully win.

Each mission takes so long to complete and even though MechWarrior: Tactical Command gives you the entire map, your battlemechs actually blend into the background too well. It is an exceedingly slow experience that does not ever get interesting.

Voice acting is laughable and the lack of precise controls hinder the game. Completing most actions require you to press and hold the screen so a menu will pop-up. But some commands, you cannot have any battlemechs selected. The additional lack of explanation of other battlemechs or vehicles is confusing.

Stumbling upon a repair station, users might have a slight idea what it might be. With vague commands like "repair" and "follow" they might think it was a repair station for battlemechs. But when moving battlemechs into place, they won't even get close unless you tell them to get in at least four times. The lack of polish really hurts MechWarrior: Tactical Command.

If you are a huge fan of MechWarrior: Tactical Command, you may enjoy campaign. But if you have never heard of MechWarrior: Tactical Command and want to learn more about the universe, read the tabletop game or the novels, at least then you will have some semblance of knowledge.

MechWarrior: Tactical Command fails to convert the table top game to iOS.
